Laura Mousavi Zadeh: Sightseeing

MousaviZadehLaura

Laura Mousavi Zadeh, Bloom, oil on canvas.

Sightseeing is the title of an exhibition taking place at ArtSway in Hampshire, England, 2 September 2006-1 October 2006.
Laura Mousavi Zadeh’s work explores the psychological states and experiences of a suspended moment in time filtered through the filmic, the primary experience, found souvenirs and associative memories.

Her paintings often touch upon her Iranian heritage and feature westernized symbols such as petrol stations, advertising hoardings and drive-in restaurants from actual sites located in Iran. Other paintings reference her birthplace in suburban coastal England, featuring architectural landmarks that often have a dreamlike or unreal quality to them. The resulting paintings are investigations into ways of disrupting our stereotypical expectations of place by subtly manipulating our perceptions of familiar symbols and environments.

Laura Mousavi Zadeh was the winner of ArtSway Open05. She has exhibited widely across the UK.
